— ARRL Field Day 2022 —
MARC will host Field Day 2022 on June 25 and 26 at the Damascus Volunteer Fire Department Activities Center Pavilion in Maryland.

Visitors welcome!

ARRL Field Day 2022 will be held on June 25th and 26th. For the ninth year, MARC will be operating with the Damascus Emergency Communications Team (DECT). This year we will be back at the Damascus Volunteer Fire Department Activities Center Pavilion at 10211 Lewis Drive in Damascus (39.2907°N, 77.2130°W).

Planning for this year's event began at the MARC meeting on May 4th with a presentation explaining the importance of field day , giving a comprehensive review of the ARRL rules and listing planning action items.

Field Day is always a lot of fun, as well as an important training exercise. Please consider volunteering to assist and/or operate.

This year, we will be setting up operating stations in the pavilion for members who volunteer to bring their own radio equipment. If you are bringing your own equipment, please consider teaming with other club members as operators, observers, or loggers. This is a club event and we would like to give all club members an opportunity to become involved with operations, especially those who don't have HF capabilities at home.

The MARC Communications Trailer will also be operating with HF, VHF/UHF, Winlink, and APRS stations and will be available for members.

In addition, we are looking for volunteers to help with the Bonus Points activities. Detailed information on Bonus Points activities is available in the ARRL's Field Day page ( arrl.org/field-day ). These activities include: Media Publicity, Public Information Table, Message Origination to Section Manager, Message Handling, Satellite QSO, Alternate Power, W1AW Bulletin, Educational activity, GOTA Bonus, Youth Participation, Social Media, and Safety Officer. All help is welcome, whether you can perform one of these activities on your own or simply assist in the activity.

This year MARC will be operating a Zoom Virtual Chat Room for field day participants during the event, with periodic scheduled conversations.

Please let us know if you would like to:

Once we have an idea of how many operators we will have, we can proceed to develop an operating plan, including a band/mode plan, a power plan, grounding plan, and antenna plan.

Planning for this event will be ongoing with the next formal meeting scheduled for May 18th. The formal meeting will include a presentation on Safety and Grounding by Tom W3TDH .
